From July 26 to August 11: PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC GAMES
HEALTH and QUALITY of LIFE After 60 YEARS: Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together

OLYMPIC GAMES: the participation of elderly individuals, especially those over 60 years old, in the Olympic Games is rare but not unprecedented. The demanding and competitive nature of elite sports favors younger athletes. However, we have had older athletes who defied expectations. Oscar Swahn (Sweden), for example, is the oldest Olympic medalist of all time. He won a silver medal at the Antwerp Olympic Games in 1920 at the age of 72. Swahn also won six Olympic medals, including three gold.

The Olympic Games can be quite positive for quality of life, even after 60 years, bringing physical, mental, and social benefits. During the 16 days of competition in France, we will bring news focusing on the potential benefits to HEALTH and QUALITY of LIFE after 60 years. The idea is to show that the Games are much more than a large-scale sporting event but also a source of inspiration for the elderly. The motivation for a more active lifestyle, social inclusion, and mental stimulation are just some of the positive aspects.

RETIRE never. It’s something that never crosses my mind. When you think about STOPPING WORK, you STOP LIVING. Retired from Commentating is closer to the truth. And it’s not even a retirement. I just stopped doing what I did for 50 years on television since my debut in 1974. (Galvão Bueno, 74 years old covering the 2020 Olympic Games in Paris  – 07-21-1950)
