12 de março: nesta terça-feira, Celebramos os Aniversários das Cidades Irmãs RECIFE (487 anos) e OLINDA (489 anos). É uma ocasião significativa para ambas as Cidades, mas enquanto em RECIFE a data NÃO ostenta oficialmente o status de FERIADO (apenas DATA COMEMORATIVA), em OLINDA é FERIADO MUNICIPAL.

March 12: this Tuesday, we celebrate the Anniversaries of the Sister Cities RECIFE (487 years) and OLINDA (489 years). It is a significant occasion for both cities, but while in RECIFE the date does NOT officially carry the status of a HOLIDAY (only a COMMEMORATIVE DATE), in OLINDA it is a MUNICIPAL HOLIDAY.

DIA MUNDIAL CONTRA A CIBERCENSURA: comemorado anualmente,  a data tem o objetivo de conscientizar a sociedade sobre a Liberdade de Expressão e Comunicação Online. A proposta é tornar a INTERNET única e acessível a todas as Pessoas de MANEIRA IGUALITÁRIA.

Todos os dias, os chamados “Netcidadãos”, em vários lugares do Mundo sofrem Represálias dos Governos de seus países com RESTRIÇÕES na Liberdade de Expressão e Comunicação no “MUNDO DIGITAL”.

WORLD DAY AGAINST CYBER-CENSORSHIP: celebrated annually, the date aims to raise awareness in society about Freedom of Expression and Communication Online. The proposal is to make the INTERNET unique and accessible to all People in an EQUAL manner. Every day, so-called “Netizens,” in various parts of the World, face Repressions from the Governments of their countries with RESTRICTIONS on Freedom of Expression and Communication in the “DIGITAL WORLD.”

DIA DO BIBLIOTECÁRIO NO BRASIL: a data foi escolhida em Homenagem à fundação do Instituto Nacional do Livro (INL), marco na História da Biblioteconomia.

O Dia do Bibliotecário varia de acordo com o país. Por exemplo:

• No BRASIL, é comemorado em 12 de março.

• Nos Estados Unidos, é celebrado em abril, durante a Semana Nacional da Biblioteca.

• Em Portugal, é celebrado em 14 de maio.

• Na Espanha, é comemorado em 24 de outubro.

A BIBLIOTECONOMIA NO BARSIL  desempenha um papel importante na Disseminação do CONHECIMENTO e na promoção da LEITURA.

LIBRARIAN’S DAY IN BRAZIL: the date was chosen in honor of the founding of the National Book Institute (INL), a milestone in the history of Librarianship. Librarian’s Day varies by country. For example: In BRAZIL, it is celebrated on March 12. In the United States, it is celebrated in April, during National Library Week. In Portugal, it is celebrated on May 14. In Spain, it is celebrated on October 24. Librarianship in BRAZIL plays an important role in the dissemination of KNOWLEDGE and the promotion of READING.
