CANAL DE SUEZ: via navegável artificial localizada no Egito, que conecta o Mar Mediterrâneo ao Mar Vermelho. Ele é uma das rotas marítimas mais importantes do mundo, facilitando o comércio entre a Europa e as regiões da Ásia e do Oceano Índico.

SUEZ CANAL: An artificial waterway located in Egypt, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. It is one of the world’s most important maritime routes, facilitating trade between Europe and the regions of Asia and the Indian Ocean.

A primeira travessia bem-sucedida do Canal de Suez ocorreu em 17 de fevereiro de 1867, quando uma frota composta por barcos a vapor e barcaças rebocadas atravessou o canal demonstrando a sua viabilidade. A inauguração oficial do Canal ocorreu em 17 de novembro de 1869, quando foi aberto ao tráfego marítimo internacional. 

The first successful crossing of the Suez Canal occurred on February 17, 1867, when a fleet consisting of steamboats and towed barges traversed the canal, demonstrating its feasibility. The official inauguration of the canal took place on November 17, 1869, when it was opened to international maritime traffic.

Ao longo desses 157 anos, o CANAL DE SUEZ passou por várias expansões e melhorias. Sua importância o tornou um ponto sensível para o comércio global. Um exemplo disso foi o incidente em março de 2021, quando o navio porta-contêineres Ever Given encalhou no canal, bloqueando-o por seis dias e interrompendo o tráfego de centenas de navios. 

Over the course of these 157 years, the SUEZ CANAL has undergone several expansions and improvements. Its significance has made it a sensitive point for global trade. An example of this was the incident in March 2021 when the container ship Ever Given ran aground in the canal, blocking it for six days and disrupting the traffic of hundreds of ships.
