The origin of this date is related to the founding of the Grande Oriente do BRAZIL in 1822, which played a significant role in the independence movements, promoting liberal ideas and fighting against Portuguese colonialism.

WORLD MOSQUITO DAY: dedicated to raising awareness about mosquitoes and the impact of the diseases they transmit, such as Malaria, Dengue, and Zika. It is an opportunity to highlight the efforts of prevention and control of these diseases that affect millions of people worldwide. The date was chosen in honor of the discovery made by British physician Sir Ronald Ross on August 20, 1897, when he demonstrated that Anopheles mosquitoes are responsible for the transmission of Malaria. This discovery was crucial for the development of disease prevention and control.
