National Lesbian Visibility Day: the date was chosen in honor of the 10th National Lesbian Seminar (SENALE), which took place on August 29, 1996, in Rio de Janeiro.
National Anti-Smoking Day: established in 1986 by the Ministry of Health, its goal is to raise awareness about the risks of smoking and the diseases related to tobacco use. It primarily aims to encourage smokers to seek help to quit the addiction.
International Day Against Nuclear Tests: created in 2009 by the UN, it seeks to raise awareness about the devastating effects of nuclear tests and the need for their prohibition. The choice of August 29th is in tribute to the closure of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site in Kazakhstan in 1991.
International Gamer’s Day: it began to be celebrated in 2008 in Spain, with the promotion by specialized magazines.
