DAY OF SOLIDARITY: in response to the received suggestions and moved by the pain afflicting the people of Rio Grande do Sul, today we are shifting the focus of our publication.

DIA de SOLIDARIDADE: em resposta às sugestões recebidas e sensibilizados pela dor que aflige os gaúchos, hoje mudamos o foco da nossa publicação.

A DAY OF SOLIDARITY: in response to the suggestions received and moved by the pain afflicting the people of Rio Grande do Sul, today we choose to dedicate our publication to encouraging the search for ways to Help Alleviate the Drama of Our Southern Brothers.

WHAT WE CAN DO: a) Before: Awareness Campaigns (flood risks and prevention); b) During: Remote Volunteering and Donation Sending; c) After: Long-Term Donations (reconstruction) and Participation (reconstruction projects). A practical example was the International Solidarity from various countries around the world that offered Financial Aid, Rescue Teams, and Reconstruction Assistance during the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

Suggestions for TEN Practical ACTIONS: 1) Rescue and Emergency Medical Assistance; 2) Distribution of Supplies; 3) Temporary Shelter; 4) Search for Missing Persons; 5) Cleaning and Debris Removal; 6) Volunteer Coordination; 7) Fundraising Campaigns; 8) Reconstruction of Damaged Infrastructure; 9) Psychosocial Support; and 10) Education and Awareness.

SEVEN CHALLENGES: 1) Logistics and Access; 2) Resource Coordination; 3) Communication; 4) Economic Impact; 5) Public Health; 6) Emotional Recovery; and 7) Environmental Sustainability.
