DAY OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER: celebrated in BRAZIL on November 28th, it honors military personnel who died in combat without their bodies being identified. The date is a tribute to those who gave their lives for the nation, often without the possibility of individual recognition, symbolizing the sacrifice of all anonymous combatants throughout history.

The choice of November 28th is tied to the installation of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, located within the National Monument to the Dead of World War II in Rio de Janeiro. The tomb holds the remains of an unidentified Brazilian soldier, brought from Italy after World War II. This symbolic act of burial aims to perpetuate the memory of those who perished in combat, especially during BRAZIL’s participation in the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) campaign in Europe.
