SAÚDE e QUALIDADE de VIDA Após os 60 ANOS: 17

World Sports and Olympic Athlete Day: also known as Olympic Day, it is dedicated to the Olympic Movement and has a direct connection with the foundation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The date was chosen to commemorate the founding of the IOC in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin.

Farmer’s Day: recognition and tribute to the work of farmers in Brazil, who are fundamental to food production and the agricultural economy. The date was chosen to coincide with the June celebrations, which have strong roots in Brazilian rural culture.

International Widows’ Day: established by the UN in 2011. The date was created to draw global attention to the situation of widows around the world who suffer from discrimination.

International Women in Engineering Day: instituted in 2014 by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) in the United Kingdom to highlight the achievements of women.

United Nations Public Service Day: created by the UN on December 20, 2002.

National Maritime Agent Day: celebrated since 2008, to recognize the importance of maritime agents.

Weight Training for the Elderly: Routine and Practice

As mentioned in publication 16 (22-06-2024), SARCOPENIA is the loss of muscle mass and strength associated with aging, and WEIGHT TRAINING is one of the most effective practices to combat it. Below, we list some practices we are starting, using only 2 dumbbells.

Lower Body: 1) Bodyweight Squats; 2) Calf Raises; 3) Leg Extensions and Curls; 4) Marching in Place.

Upper Body: 5) Push-Ups; 6) Dumbbell Bench Press; 7) Dumbbell Rows; 8) Dumbbell Lateral Raises; 9) Dumbbell Tricep Extensions.

Flexibility, Mobility, and Core: 10) Trunk Rotation; 11) Shoulder Stretch; 12) Calf Stretch; 13) Side Stretch.

WEIGHT TRAINING is a powerful tool to combat SARCOPENIA. Including resistance exercises in your routine, with professional guidance, can significantly improve QUALITY OF LIFE after age 60. Don’t forget to do warm-up exercises at the beginning and cool-down exercises at the end. About 20 to 30 minutes daily are enough to produce “Good Results.
