11 de março de 2020: data em que o Diretor-geral da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, em Genebra, na Suíça, declara que a COVID-19, doença causada pelo Coronavírus, é caracterizada como uma PANDEMIA. Essa declaração foi feita devido à rápida disseminação do SARS-CoV-2, em vários países ao redor do Mundo, afetando múltiplas regiões de forma significativa e representando uma séria AMEAÇA à SAÚDE PÚBLICA GLOBAL.

A COVID-19 é uma doença infecciosa e tem como principais sintomas febre, cansaço e tosse seca. Outros sintomas menos comuns são: perda de paladar ou olfato, congestão nasal, conjuntivite, dor de garganta, dor de cabeça, dores nos músculos ou juntas, diferentes tipos de erupção cutânea, náusea ou vômito, diarreia, calafrios ou tonturas.

A declaração de PANDEMIA refletiu a GRAVIDADE e a extensão do impacto da DOENÇA em escala Mundial. Desde então, a pandemia tem sido objeto de intensos esforços para conter a propagação do vírus, desenvolver vacinas e mitigar seus efeitos.

05 de maio de 2023: marcou “o Fim da PANDEMIA”, por meio do comunicado apresentado pela OMS após três anos e dois meses. Estimativas indicam um número Mundial de 695.781.740 casos  e 6.919.573 mortes (0,99%). No BRASIL esses números são da ordem de 37.789.040 casos e 705.313 óbitos (1,87%).

March 11, 2020: Date on which the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in Geneva, Switzerland, declared that COVID-19, the disease caused by the Coronavirus, is characterized as a PANDEMIC. This declaration was made due to the rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 in various countries around the World, affecting multiple regions significantly and representing a serious THREAT to GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH.

COVID-19 is an infectious disease and its main symptoms are fever, fatigue, and dry cough. Other less common symptoms include: loss of taste or smell, nasal congestion, conjunctivitis, sore throat, headache, muscle or joint pain, different types of skin rash, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, chills, or dizziness.

The declaration of PANDEMIC reflected the SEVERITY and extent of the impact of the DISEASE on a Global scale. Since then, the pandemic has been the subject of intense efforts to contain the spread of the virus, develop vaccines, and mitigate its effects.
