World Day to COMBAT DESERTIFICATION AND DROUGHT: aims to raise awareness about efforts to combat desertification and the effects of drought. Desertification is a serious environmental problem affecting millions of people, harming agriculture, water availability, and biodiversity. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1994, marking the adoption of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
